Codex CLI

# One command.

`codex mcp add` registers BankBridge and opens the sign-in in your browser. No config file editing, no key to paste.

Step 01

## Run one command.

terminal, one line

```
codex mcp add bankbridge --url https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp
# Codex opens the BankBridge sign-in in your browser.
# Later, to sign in again: codex mcp login bankbridge
```

or edit ~/.codex/config.toml

```
# Older Codex builds only: add once at top level
# experimental_use_rmcp_client = true
[mcp_servers.bankbridge]
url = "https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "BANKBRIDGE_API_KEY"
# Then in your shell:
# export BANKBRIDGE_API_KEY="bbk_your_api_key_here"
```

Restart Codex CLI after editing the config.

Codex opens the BankBridge sign-in page; sign in and click **Allow**. Signed in here? The command above uses your API key from [your dashboard](https://bankbridge.money/dashboard) instead: put the `export` line in your `~/.zshrc` or `~/.bashrc` so it persists.

Step 02

## Verify it works.

Start Codex, then in any session:

try this

```
how much did I spend this week?
```

Run `/mcp` to see the BankBridge tools. Zero tools on an older Codex build? Add `experimental_use_rmcp_client = true` at the top level of `config.toml`, above any `[section]`, or update Codex.

Cloud-hosted Codex?

For OpenAI’s cloud Codex (the GitHub-connected one), add BankBridge via the per-environment MCP settings instead. See the [Codex Cloud guide](https://bankbridge.money/docs/codex-cloud).
