Open WebUI

Add one tool server.

Open WebUI 0.6.31 and later take MCP servers directly. An admin adds BankBridge once, then you turn it on in a chat.

Read-only. Your agent can see balances and transactions, and nothing can move money, pay a bill, or place a trade. BankBridge doesn’t store your transactions. How it’s secured · Try it with sample data first

Step 01

Add the connection.

Open WebUI
1. Settings → Admin → Integrations → External Tool Servers → + Add Connection
2. Type: MCP (Streamable HTTP)
3. URL: https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp
4. Auth: Bearer
5. Key: bbk_your_api_key_here
6. ID: bankbridge, Name: BankBridge, then Save

Choose MCP (Streamable HTTP), not OpenAPI. Running in Docker? Set WEBUI_SECRET_KEY on the container, as Open WebUI’s docs ask for any MCP connection.

Step 02

Turn it on in a chat and ask.

In a chat, click +, then Integrations, then Tools, and enable BankBridge. Pick a model that supports tool calls, then ask:

try this
list my bank accounts and balances

To test the config before you sign up, use the key bbk_demo. It returns sample data.

Running Open WebUI on a local model? Here is what stays on your machine.

Using Ollama for the model? See the Ollama guide.

Troubleshooting
Client connects but shows 0 tools.
Usually the client is caching an old config, or you're on a mode that doesn't expose tools (Ask/Edit vs Agent, for example).
Fix: Fully quit + relaunch the host app. In VS Code Copilot, switch to Agent mode.
401 Unauthorized on every call.
The API key is missing, typo'd, or got revoked. Check the Authorization header starts with `Bearer ` (note the space) and ends in a key you still own.
Fix: Paste a fresh key from Settings.
Tools return a NO_CONNECTIONS warning.
You haven't linked a bank yet.
Fix: Visit Connect a bank . The bank-connect flow opens automatically, ~30 seconds.
Problems? Email hello@greatwork.company with the app you’re setting up and what you see, and we’ll help you finish.
