# How much have I spent on DoorDash? Total it and see which restaurants it went to

> Connect your banks and cards to an AI agent and ask: "How much have I spent on DoorDash this year, by month, and which restaurants did it go to?" The agent pulls every DoorDash charge on every connected account, totals it, and reads the restaurant name out of each charge description.

## Ask for the total

DoorDash orders are charged to whatever card you saved at checkout, and most people have switched cards at least once. Your banks still have every charge. Connect them with BankBridge, then ask Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client:

> How much have I spent on DoorDash since January 1? Give me the total, the number of orders, the average order, and a month-by-month breakdown.

[Ask in Claude](https://claude.ai/new?q=How%20much%20have%20I%20spent%20on%20DoorDash%20since%20January%201%3F%20Give%20me%20the%20total%2C%20the%20number%20of%20orders%2C%20the%20average%20order%2C%20and%20a%20month-by-month%20breakdown.) · [Ask in ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/?q=How%20much%20have%20I%20spent%20on%20DoorDash%20since%20January%201%3F%20Give%20me%20the%20total%2C%20the%20number%20of%20orders%2C%20the%20average%20order%2C%20and%20a%20month-by-month%20breakdown.) (with BankBridge connected)

The agent calls `get_merchant_history`with "doordash". That tool checks both the cleaned-up merchant name and the raw bank description on every connected account, and returns the count, total, average and every matching charge. Set the start date yourself: the tool's default is the last 12 months, not the calendar year.

## A year of DoorDash in the demo account

The BankBridge demo account is a made-up household with a year of fictional transactions. Asked about DoorDash on 2026-10-15, the tool returned:

Orders

12

Total

$328.10

Average order

$27.34

First and last

2025-11-11 to 2026-10-11

Description on the statement

`DOORDASH*CAVA`, on a Chase card

One order a month is a light habit. Real accounts often show several a week, and that's when the yearly number surprises people: at four $27 orders a week, a year comes to about $5,600.

## Which restaurants the money went to

A DoorDash charge description often includes the restaurant after the DoorDash name, like the demo's `DOORDASH*CAVA`. When it does, a single total becomes a ranked list:

> Group my DoorDash charges from the last 12 months by the restaurant name in the description. Rank them by total and show the order count for each.

This is the most useful follow-up for cutting back. Most delivery spending concentrates in two or three places, and seeing "$900 on one burrito place" does more than a category total ever will. If a description doesn't name the restaurant, the agent will list it as unnamed rather than guess.

## Is it going up?

A yearly total hides direction. Ask for the trend:

> Show my DoorDash spending by month for the last 24 months, and tell me whether the last three months are above or below my average.

Banks provide up to 24 months, so you can line this year up against last year month by month. In the demo the line is flat at $25 to $31 a month. A month that doubles is worth a look: a new habit, a busy stretch at work, or a charge you don't recognize. For one-off months, our guide on [not projecting from a single month](https://bankbridge.money/guides/dont-project-from-one-month) explains why you should wait for a pattern before changing a budget.

## Delivery vs groceries

The question behind "how much have I spent on DoorDash" is usually "how much am I paying to not cook." Put the two side by side:

> For each of the last six months, show DoorDash and Uber Eats together next to my grocery spending.

Groceries and restaurants share the food and drink category, but each transaction also carries a detailed subcategory (groceries, restaurant, fast food, coffee), so the agent can separate them. If you also use Uber Eats, see [how to split Uber Eats from Uber rides](https://bankbridge.money/guides/how-much-have-i-spent-on-uber-and-uber-eats), since both bill under the Uber name.

## Orders the total can miss

- **Accounts you haven't connected.**If some orders went through a payment app or a card you haven't connected, they won't be in the total. Connect that account, or ask the agent which months look light.
- **Pending charges.**The tool includes them, and a pending amount can change before it posts. Add "posted only" if you're matching a statement.
- **Refunds.**A refunded order appears as a negative amount. The tool's total counts charges, so ask for the net when you've had refunds.
- **Membership fees.**If you pay for a DoorDash membership, those charges match "doordash" too. Ask the agent to list recurring same-amount DoorDash charges separately from orders.
- **Items.** The bank sees the order total, not what was in the bag.

Want to see it before connecting anything? The demo account has a year of a made-up household’s transactions. Add it to your agent from the demo dashboard, then ask: _“How much have I spent on DoorDash in the last 12 months, and at which restaurants?”_ ([what’s in the demo](https://bankbridge.money/demo))

On your own accounts, BankBridge is read-only, fetches live from your bank for each question, and costs $5 a month or $50 a year per connected bank.

## FAQ

### How do I see how much I've spent on DoorDash this year?

Ask an AI agent with access to your bank data for DoorDash charges from January 1 to today. With BankBridge connected, it searches every connected bank and card for DoorDash in the merchant name or description and adds them up.

### Can I see which restaurants I ordered from?

When the charge description includes it, yes, for example DOORDASH*CAVA. Ask the agent to group DoorDash charges by the text after DOORDASH and rank them by total. Charges that only say DoorDash get listed as unnamed.

### Why is the total a little different from my receipts?

Pending charges can still change before they post, for example when a tip is adjusted. Ask for posted transactions only, and the figure will match what your statements show.

### Does this work for last year too?

Yes. Banks provide up to 24 months of history, so all of last year is available. Give the agent the dates, for example January 1 to December 31 of last year.
