BankBridge vs BankSync

5 min read
Direct answer: BankSync is a sync service that sends bank data into Google Sheets, Excel, Notion, databases and AI agents, with MCP access from its $6 to $7 a month Standard plan (5 banks, daily syncs) and coverage in 40+ countries. BankBridge does one thing: it gives Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read-only access that fetches live from your US bank on every question, for $5 a month per bank, with no write tools and nothing stored.

The short version

BankSync is a bank-data platform. It connects to banks, brokerages and crypto exchanges in 40+ countries and pushes the data into Google Sheets, Excel, Notion, Airtable, databases, budgeting apps and webhooks. Its MCP server, available on the Standard plan and up, is one more destination, with 144 tools for querying data and running syncs, tables and enrichments.

BankBridge is only the AI part. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP app gets 11 read-only tools plus a link for adding a bank, and every answer is fetched from the bank at the moment you ask. There is no sync schedule, no stored copy and no tool that changes anything.

Where BankSync is better

  • Outside the US. BankSync covers 40+ countries. BankBridge is US-only, so if your bank is in the UK, Canada or Europe, BankSync is the one that works.
  • More than chat. The same connection can fill a Google Sheet, an Airtable base or a Postgres table on a schedule. If you want your transactions in a spreadsheet and in Claude, BankSync does both.
  • Several banks for one price. Standard covers 5 bank connections for $6 to $7 a month, so with three or more banks BankSync costs less than BankBridge's $5 per bank.
  • Crypto and trades. BankSync connects crypto exchanges and exposes individual trades as well as holdings.

Where BankBridge is better

  • Live answers. BankSync answers from its last sync, which is daily on Standard. BankBridge asks your bank when you ask Claude, so a charge from this morning is already there.
  • Nothing to change, nothing kept. BankBridge has no write tools at all and keeps no copy of your transactions. There is no table, feed or connection the AI can modify.
  • Built for the chat. 11 read tools designed for questions like "what did I spend on restaurants last month?", rather than a 144-tool platform API. One-click connect in Claude's directory instead of a pasted API key.

Which one to pick

Pick BankSync if your banks are outside the US, you have several banks and want one flat price, or you also want the data flowing into Sheets, Notion or a database.

Pick BankBridge if you're in the US and want your AI to answer from live bank data with no write access and no stored copy, set up in one click. Not sure your bank works? Check your bank first, or try the demo with made-up data.

FAQ

Is BankSync read-only?

BankSync says its MCP server has no tool that can move money. It isn't read-only overall: by its own tool list, 77 of its 144 tools can create or change data such as syncs, tables, feeds and connections. BankBridge has no tool that writes anything.

Which is cheaper?

For one or two US banks, BankBridge ($5 per bank per month) is about the same as or cheaper than BankSync Standard ($6 to $7 a month, which is where MCP access starts). For three or more banks, BankSync Standard costs less.

Does BankSync work with Claude?

Yes. BankSync documents setup for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor and about 40 other clients. Its documented Claude setup uses an API key; BankBridge connects from Claude's directory with a sign-in.

Can I use both?

Yes. Some people use BankSync to keep a spreadsheet updated and BankBridge for live questions in Claude. They don't conflict.
