The short version
PocketSmith is a long-running budgeting and cash-flow forecasting app. Its AI connector lets Claude or ChatGPT search, categorize and edit what's in your PocketSmith account: transactions, categories, rules, budget events. A separate read-only server exists for people who don't want edits, added by hand as a custom connector.
BankBridge isn't a budgeting app and doesn't want to replace one. It gives your AI read-only access to the bank itself, fetched live, so you can ask about spending, subscriptions, cashflow or your portfolio without adopting a new app.

Where PocketSmith is better
- A real budgeting app. Budgets, a calendar, cash-flow and net-worth forecasts up to 60 years, multi-currency. If you want to plan, not just ask questions, PocketSmith has a whole app behind the AI.
- AI housekeeping. The AI can categorize, create rules and attach receipts in PocketSmith. BankBridge can't change anything by design.
- International. Bank feeds in 49 countries. BankBridge is US-only.
Where BankBridge is better
- No app to adopt. BankBridge works with the bank you already have and the AI you already use. There's no budgeting app to set up or keep up.
- Investment holdings. BankBridge can answer "how are my holdings doing?" with gain/loss, buys, sells and dividends. PocketSmith's MCP tool list has no holdings tools.
- Read-only by default. BankBridge has no write tools at all, in the directory connector or anywhere else. With PocketSmith, the one-click directory connector is the full read-write version.
- Live and cheaper to start. Answers come from the bank at the moment you ask, from $5 a month for one bank, versus $14.95 a month ($9.99 yearly) for PocketSmith's bank feeds.
Which one to pick
Pick PocketSmith if you want a full budgeting and forecasting app with AI on top, or your banks are outside the US.
Pick BankBridge if you just want to ask your AI about your real money, including investments, without adopting a budgeting app or giving it write access. Not sure your bank works? Check your bank first, or try the demo with made-up data.
