BankBridge vs Claude Personal Finance: which one fits

By Jake Marsh4 min read
Direct answer: If you only ask money questions in the Claude apps on a personal paid plan and don't need your investments, use Personal Finance. It's included in your plan. BankBridge is for when your questions go elsewhere: Claude Code or Cowork, ChatGPT, Cursor, a model on your own laptop, your own scripts, a Team account, or anything that needs holdings and trades.

Side by side

Personal Finance is in beta, so these limits can change. The Claude column comes from Anthropic's announcement and its help page, last checked November 5, 2026.

Where Personal Finance wins

  • It's included if you already pay for a personal Claude plan, so there's no second bill.
  • It comes with a dashboard. BankBridge has none.
  • Its hub conversations aren't used for training, and chats that use your accounts aren't saved to memory. Chats through BankBridge are ordinary chats under your normal settings.
  • There's no connector to add. Open it in the sidebar.

Where BankBridge wins

  • It isn't tied to one app. One connection answers in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, and other MCP hosts.
  • Claude Code and Cowork. Write the CSV for your accountant into a folder, reconcile payouts, or script a monthly review. Claude Code setup.
  • Investments. Ask about positions, gains, dividends, and trades.
  • Team and Enterprise accounts. Useful when your Claude login belongs to your business.
  • Agents you run yourself. With a local model, the conversation stays on your machine. The numbers still pass through the bank-data provider and BankBridge on the way there, and BankBridge keeps no copy.

What's the same

  • Both are read-only. Neither can move money.
  • Both work with US banks only.
  • Both reach up to 24 months of transactions.
  • Neither reads loan rates or terms.
  • Neither is financial advice, and either can get a number wrong, so check what matters against your bank.

Who picks which

Pick Personal Finance if you only ask money questions in the Claude apps, you're on a personal paid plan in the US, and you don't need your investments.

Pick BankBridge if your money questions go anywhere else, or you need holdings and trades. Connect a bank in about a minute, or read how to connect your bank to Claude.

FAQ

Does Claude Personal Finance work in Claude Code?

No. Anthropic's help page says it isn't usable in Claude Code, Cowork, or scheduled tasks. BankBridge works in Claude Code through a plugin and in Cowork as a connector.

Can Claude Personal Finance see my investments?

Not currently. Anthropic's help page says Claude does not read holdings, trades, rates, or terms, even though the consent screens may ask to share that data. BankBridge has tools for holdings and investment transactions. It does not read loan rates or terms either.

Is Claude Personal Finance on Team or Enterprise plans?

No. Anthropic lists personal Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner can add BankBridge as a connector, then each member connects their own account.

Which one has more recent balances?

Don't choose on this. Anthropic says its balances can be a day or two old, and BankBridge's balances are what the bank-data provider last received from your bank, which can also lag. Check your bank for a number that has to be exact.

Does BankBridge store my transactions?

No. Every tool call fetches from your bank connection and returns the result to your agent. BankBridge keeps your account record, subscription, an encrypted bank access token, and API key hashes. Your agent's chat history is separate and follows that agent's own settings.
