Claude Money: what we know, and how to connect your bank to Claude today

5 min read
Direct answer: Claude Money is an unreleased personal finance feature that surfaced in Anthropic's Claude iOS app in mid-September 2026, with prompts to link bank accounts and ask about spending. Anthropic has not announced it, a launch date, pricing, or supported banks. Today, you can connect your bank to Claude through a connector such as BankBridge, which works in Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, mobile, Cowork, and Claude Code.

What has been reported

In mid-September 2026, people testing the Claude iOS app found interface components for a feature called Claude Money. Coverage from TestingCatalog, gHacks, BleepingComputer, and others describes the same few details:

  • A Money section in the Claude iOS app, next to Chats, Code, Artifacts, and Cowork.
  • Prompts inviting you to link bank accounts and ask Claude about spending and plans.
  • The idea of an ongoing connection, so you would not need to upload statements or CSV files one conversation at a time.
  • Not available to most users. It appeared as a test, not a release.

That is the full extent of what is public. Anything beyond this, including screenshots of dashboards, is either from the test build or speculation.

What is still unknown

Anthropic has not announced Claude Money. These questions have no public answer yet:

  • Which plans get it (Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise).
  • Which countries. Most reporting assumes the US first.
  • Which banks and brokerages are supported, and through which provider.
  • Whether it works outside the Claude app, for example in Claude Code.
  • What data is kept, for how long, and whether it can be excluded from training.
  • Whether it stays read-only.

If you are deciding how to get your bank data into Claude this month, plan around what exists today.

The ChatGPT precedent

OpenAI shipped the equivalent feature first. ChatGPT's personal finance experience launched on May 15, 2026 as a preview for Pro subscribers in the US, reached Plus on June 25, 2026, and began rolling out to Free and Go users on October 2, 2026. You link accounts inside ChatGPT, get a spending view, and ask questions in chat. It works only inside ChatGPT.

If Claude Money follows a similar path, expect a staged rollout by plan and country, and a feature tied to the Claude app. We covered the trade-offs of the ChatGPT version in 7 limitations of ChatGPT's personal finance feature.

Connecting your bank to Claude today

Claude already supports custom connectors built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). A bank connector gives Claude tools it can call when you ask a money question. BankBridge is one of them:

  • Claude.ai, Desktop, iOS, Android, Cowork: add https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp as a custom connector and sign in when Claude redirects you. No key to paste. Steps on the Claude.ai setup page.
  • Claude Code: install the plugin with /plugin marketplace add bankbridge-money/bankbridge-plugin then /plugin install bankbridge. It adds 19 slash commands such as /subscriptions, /budget-draft, and /tax-prep. See the Claude Code setup page.

Once connected, Claude can list accounts and balances, filter and search up to 24 months of transactions, summarize spending by category, merchant, week, or month, detect recurring charges, compute monthly cashflow, pull a merchant's full history, and read investment holdings and investment transactions. All of it is read-only. There is no tool that moves money.

If Claude Money ships, do you still need a connector?

It depends on where you work. If you only ever ask money questions in the Claude app, a built-in feature may cover you once it reaches your plan and country.

A connector still makes sense if any of these apply:

  • You use more than one agent. One BankBridge connection works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, and the other MCP hosts.
  • You do finance work in Claude Code: reconciling payouts, writing a CSV for your accountant, or running scripted monthly reviews.
  • You are building your own agent and need bank data over a standard protocol. See building a finance agent with the Claude Agent SDK.
  • You want a provider whose architecture keeps no copy of your transactions. Read why we don't cache your data.

You do not need to wait. Sign up, connect a bank in about a minute, and ask Claude what you spent last month. $5 per month per bank.

FAQ

Is Claude Money available yet?

As of October 2, 2026, no public launch has been announced. Reports from mid-September 2026 describe a Money section found in the Claude iOS app that most users cannot access. We will update this page when Anthropic announces it.

Can Claude see my bank account right now?

Only if you connect it. Claude has no built-in access to your accounts today. You can add a bank connector (an MCP server) such as BankBridge in Settings, Connectors, and Claude will be able to read balances, transactions, recurring charges, and investment holdings on request.

Will Claude Money work in Claude Code or Cursor?

Nothing has been announced about that. The reported feature lives in the Claude app. BankBridge is a standard MCP server, so the same connection works in Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI, and other MCP hosts, not only Claude's apps.

Does BankBridge store my transactions?

No. Every tool call fetches live from your bank connection and returns the result to your agent. BankBridge keeps your account record, subscription, an encrypted bank access token, and API key hashes. It does not keep a copy of your balances or transactions.

What does BankBridge cost?

$5 per month per connected bank. There is no free tier and no premium tier. Cancel any time from the dashboard and you keep access through the end of the billing period.
