Why the built-in features don't cover this
Claude and ChatGPT each have a personal finance feature, and neither is offered on a business plan. Anthropic's Personal Finance page says it isn't available on Team or Enterprise. OpenAI's Finances page lists Free, Go, Plus and Pro. Both read as of November 6, 2026.
A connector works on any plan that allows custom tools. BankBridge is a hosted MCP server: once it's added, your assistant can read balances and transactions from the accounts you link. It covers US banks, and works the same for a sole proprietor on a personal plan and a small team on a workspace.
Before you start, search for your bank to confirm it's supported. No account is needed.
Connect it to Claude
On Pro or Max:
- Open BankBridge in Claude's connector directory and click Connect.
- Sign in to BankBridge with the code sent to your email, or with Google, and pick a plan.
- Connect your bank, signing in with your business login on your bank's own screen.
- Back in Claude, ask: "List my business accounts and their balances."
On Team or Enterprise:
- An Owner adds the connector for the organization, using the URL
https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp. - Each member goes to Customize, Connectors and connects with their own BankBridge sign-in.
- The person responsible for the books links the bank.
Fuller steps are on the Claude setup page. Claude Code has its own plugin with reporting commands, covered in the Claude Code setup page.
Connect it to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins, search for BankBridge and click Install. On Business or Enterprise, ask your admin to allow it if it doesn't appear.
- Sign in to BankBridge when the window opens and pick a plan.
- Connect your bank using your business login, then click Allow.
- Ask: "What were my largest business expenses last month?"
Workspace admins can follow the ChatGPT Enterprise setup page. For other plans, see the ChatGPT setup page.
Personal and business at the same bank
What counts as one connection depends on how your bank logs you in:
| Your setup | Connections | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Business checking and card under one login | 1 | $5 |
| Personal and business under one login | 1 | $5 |
| Personal and business under separate logins | 2 | $10 |
| Business checking at one bank, business card at another | 2 | $10 |
When both sit under one login, your bank's sign-in screen usually lets you pick which accounts to share. Choose only the business ones if you want the two kept apart. Otherwise, tell your assistant which accounts are business by their last four digits, so personal spending stays out of your totals.
If your business login won't connect
Some regional banks use a stricter sign-in for business accounts than for personal ones. If yours fails, email hello@greatwork.company with the bank name. The connection can only read, so a login that can see the accounts is enough where your bank allows one.
First questions to ask
"Categorize every charge on my business card and checking from last month, and list anything you weren't sure about."
"Did the business take in more than it spent last quarter? Leave out transfers between my own accounts and card payments."
"Which recurring charges on the business accounts went up this year?"
For the monthly routine, see AI bookkeeping for LLC owners. To choose between the two assistants, see Claude vs ChatGPT for bookkeeping.
Who sees the data
- Your assistant's provider. What the assistant reads enters the conversation. OpenAI says it doesn't use Business or Enterprise content to improve models by default, and Anthropic says the same of its commercial products.
- BankBridge. It fetches data live and doesn't keep a copy of transactions or balances. It never sees your bank password or full account numbers.
- Your team. A shared chat or project can expose figures, so keep finance chats private unless you mean to share them.
Connect your business bank and ask your first question in about five minutes.
